Your Village, Your Voice

We are trying to consult and contact as many residents, organisations and businesses as possible in order to truly reflect the values and requirements of the village now and in the future.

Patumahoe Village 2050 is a community-led, not a committee driven group.

Our intent is to formulate a concept plan for Patumahoe Village that will address all identified development needs and zoning in a way that we (the villagers) have designed.   This will be presented as a community developed concept plan for the Long Term Plan for Patumahoe in 2012.

The plan that is adopted at this stage will not be replaced for another ten years.  At present there is no plan to allocate resources to specifically addressing the changes in Patumahoe, so our new 2012 plan will be the old one with the Franklin averages applied regarding population, business growth etc.

This will be a three-fold process.
  1. Community (focus groups) - Consultation, ideas and feedback from all in the community to provide an initial design brief (6 to 8 months).
  2. Council Planners (working committee) - We will be working with planners to develop a concept plan that will replace the existing 2004 Patumahoe Structure Plan which relies on data which is already out of date (eighteen months to two years).
  3. Auckland Council - The resulting Concept plan and supporting consultation and research documentation will be submitted to council to be amalgamated into the 2012 LTCCP for Patumahoe.  This plan will be in adopted for the next ten years, although after three years regular reviews are usual but the process will remain the same (July 2012).

Franklin District Council have estimated that they would be allocating approximately $1,000,000 to this process if we initiate a well-designed and thoughtful consultation and feedback programme, and come up with a strategic sustainable brief.  A working committee would act as stakeholders with council staff in the newly formed Auckland Council to develop, review and finalise a concept Structure Plan for Patumahoe.

All you need to do - is take a few minutes to have a say and be part of the design process.

To truly reflect Patumahoe Village, we need you.

All you have to do to participate is do one or more of the following:
  • post comments on this blog,
  • attend the community information sessions and meetings,
  • honestly comment on proposals and offer solutions to problems that you might see,
  • encourage and participate in discussions with others,
  • and finally, to remember that this is a campaign to protect community spirit and allow this to guide discussions with courtesy and respect.

We look forward to hearing from you!
